What does it all mean?
So you’ve stumbled across Orion's Svelte, but you’re not quite sure what it means.
Let’s break it down:
Orion:
noun: the constellation of the hunter, a profession of mind and body combined.
Svelte:
adjective: a high degree of mental/social adaptability that comes from life experiences i.e. intelligence.
AND/OR
adjective: a high degree of physical adaptability i.e. fitness.
So, Orion’s Svelte can be translated to; the hunter’s intelligence and fitness.
Doesn’t sound as good though, does it?
Orion's Svelte = The quality of the hunter’s fitness and intelligence.
I believe Orion's Svelte is a quality that should be strived for by all. This is a belief supported by the peoples of Acient Greece who developed themselves through a process called Phaideia (rounded education) towards a goal called Arete (excellence).
This blog will analyse the ancient process of Phaideia and goal of Arete and try and make it applicable to the modern world.

ReplyDeleteGramsci's ideas for a common school seem to be like a more modern version of Paideia. Based on a lot of the same notions, Gramsci argued that education should begin with the basics, eg language, maths etc, but this should be combined with political education and practices of collectivism. Was going to send you a link but hardly saw any good ones, so best place to look would be in his prison notebooks x
